About us
Founded in 1720, Webster & Horsfall Group is a family-owned business with a 300-year legacy of innovation, quality, and leadership in specialist wire and wire rope solutions. Based on a historic 17-acre site in Birmingham, the Group comprises Webster & Horsfall, known for its high-quality wire manufacturing, and Latch & Batchelor, specialising in premium wire ropes for global industries. The site has also evolved into Tyseley Energy Park (TEP), a pioneering hub for clean energy innovation. Building on the Group’s industrial heritage, TEP drives advancements in sustainable energy systems, low-carbon transport, and the development of cleantech businesses, positioning Birmingham at the heart of the green industrial revolution.

Tyseley Energy Park (TEP) has transformed the historic Webster & Horsfall site into a hub for clean energy innovation. Webster & Horsfall brings over 300 years of expertise in wire manufacturing to serve the needs of industries worldwide. From the heart of its modern and versatile manufacturing plant, the company is committed to delivering excellence in every wire and spring wire product it creates.
Latch and Batchelor
Latch and Batchelor established in 1884 has extensive experience in supplying specialist high performance steel wire ropes to Crane Operators, Port Authorities, Mining and Construction Sites across the UK, Ireland and overseas. Our state of the art ISO certified Service Centre in the UK can efficiently process your order in order to achieve same day or next day for some rope types.
Hay Mills Foundation Trust
The Hay Mills Foundation Trust preserves Webster & Horsfall’s heritage and supports community regeneration through historical archives, education, and local initiatives in East Birmingham.
King’s award for enterprise in sustainable development
By developing Tyseley Energy Park, the Webster and Horsfall Group were honoured with the prestigious 2024 King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, recognising its leadership in advancing sustainability and clean energy innovation.
